I bought this for a friend’s 4 y/o child. They called back, the kid was wearing this costume for a whole day and played with blocks. Do not know about durability or how often he plays with it, but he was happy to receive it.

1st time reviewer. Wanted to let other moms (and dads) know that:

1) easy to put together – just follow directions (20-30 max time needed)

2) no big deal: there are no rails between ladder and slide. i positioned that side against one wall in my house and it serves as my additional wall.

3) slide is great! to me the picture of the slide looks like there is a stopper or lip at the end of the slide to stop a baby from flying off the end. There is no abrupt stop or lip. Smooth, safe and FUN ride all the way down.

4) My son (16mths) is so worn out he PASSED out tonight from playing so much today. All I can say is THANK YOU Little Tikes :-)

5) I live in a townhome so no yard and no storage inside. This toy is big enough to provide hours of entertainment. Versitile – you can store it away in an instant. I bought this for inside play – but this could easily go outside as well.

You cannot go wrong buying this toy from BabyAge. It’s Versitile. Play soccer or basketball or slide. Stores Easily. Great Deal. Excellent Toy.

Only drawback I can find is the only ball it comes with is a basketball. It’s as big as a Size 1 soccer ball. perfect size for baby.

What a terrific idea. Just enough activity for little attention spans. The fold-up feature is great. It’s not too heavy for mom to move around.

It is too easy to fall off the slide platform. I have two 1 1/2 year olds and a three year old. They love the toy!!! but push and shove to use it. If it is not against the couch, it is dangerous. Too bad. I wanted this for the outdoors. I guess we have to keep it on the rug next to the couch (it is a great indoor toy). This is why I am giving it three stars.

We got this toy for my 5 month old and he loves it. It immediately caught his attention and he spends quite a long time twisting and turning. What is really neat is that his 10 year old brother (and 40-something father) also have spent time playing with it. The dinosaur is fun to pose and easy for an infant to work with. Looks like quite the keeper and we will be getting different versions for sure!

I like the Melissa and Doug line of toys and did not hesitate to buy this dinosaur for my son. The package includes ideas to help you make this toy educational. My son is young though, so his favorite activity is trying to eat the dinosaur before I take it away.

Bought this for my 7-month old as he was constantly putting his hands in his mouth and I wanted something nice for his Easter basket. This dinosaur teether is perfect for grasping and A-OK for him to put in his mouth. I love how you can configure it in different ways and how it looks like a “big boy” toy. In fact, my 3yr old likes it, too! Another plus– it’s affordable as far as wooden toys go… Hooray!

We received several gears, gears, gears sets at the same time, and found that the plain set ie Super set although initially fun looses excitement without some add ons. If I were to buy just one set I would start with the Under the Sea adventure set first, then add with the fantasy play park. The Undersea set has parts that move the gears in interesting ways from the standard set. It also comes with regular gears for building, although in limited number so the super set still helps extend the play. The motorized monstors sounded more intteresting than it was, but the parts when added to the Undersea adventure set was great fun! The gears are an interesting way of learning how things work. If your child is mechanically minded any of these sets will provide a wonderful new constructin opportunity. If your child hasn’t been inclined towards let’s say lego’s etc.. This toy may provide some interest initially in being able to create a design that moves. However, construction with this set is more complicated than legos and for the less mechanically inclined child will still need paren’ts help beyond the age minimum’s recommended.

We purchased this award-winning set for our preschool-aged son who really enjoys toys like Marble Run, Legos, and Brio. We thought it a good fit for his mechanical engineering interests. The set itself is fairly durable and small hands can easily manipulate the chunky pieces which fit together snugly. The handled storage container is an added convenience. However, soon after purchase I noticed (like other reviewers) that my son was not motivated to play with this set on his own. Often, it would go undisturbed for months. One day, his preschool teacher said they were interested in purchasing this set for the classroom. Because of my own experience I cautioned her on the purchase and offered our set to the class for a “test drive.” To my surprise, for the week it was on loan it was the most played with toy in the room. My son seemed to love the kit at school, but not at home. I realized that this toy is at it’s best with a group of children because they can so easily work and create together. In a group setting the toy became fun, cooperative play. Because this set offers a generous number of four-sided building pieces, chilren can add-on and build from all sides. I can understand why in a previous review a Kingergarten teacher gave this toy five stars…because that is the environment this toy was made for it seems. It would be best for families with multiple children of similar age, play groups, and classroom learning. As a parent, I love this quality toy and the creativity and cooperation it inspires but now, we keep the bucket at Grandma’s house. When all of the Grandkids are there they spill out the parts and go to work.

This set of “gears” is really neat. There are lots of pieces, very nice bright colors, and countless configurations. I really like that the set didn’t include patterns to follow or directions–it just told you how to make flat gears, upright, etc. My oldest child is 3–his main fascination right now is how everything moves together. He yells at me to come see the “machine” he has made. I think it will stay interesting to him for several years.

Anyone looking for a D-I-Y kit for a wooden playset should be smart enough to know there’s is no way you’ll be getting a full kit, with lumber included for just over 0.

When i ordered this kit, i pretty much knew what i was getting: all the pieces for assembling a play structure but w/o the wood. Knowing that i actually went to the manufacturer’s website, www.swing-n-slide.com, and researched my options. I ended up buying the Alpine 612 kit. Similar to this one, but w/o the extra deck section. The website not only gives you ton of options, but also gives you an estimated cost for complete set up once you add cost of kit, wood, and accessories.

The kit was fantastic. All the pieces are quality, durable, and built to last.Instructions are super easy to follow. They make it as simple as possible every step of the way. Not only are the instructions clear, there is even a DVD that you can watch if you want. I didn’t watch the DVD so I’m not sure if it’s any more informative than the written instructions.

Ok. So how easy was it to build this sucker, and how long did it take me?

I am not a experienced carpenter or craftsman. I’m probably the least experienced guy i know, but i think i’m smart enough to follow instructions.

I knew there’s no way i’d be able to build this in 6-8 hrs like it states on the box, especially if i’m doing this alone. I ended up building the structure little by little throughout the week after i got home from work. I then spent the weekend doing a majority of the work. Most things are doable if you are alone, though it would be easier if there was a second set of hands. The only point that I truly NEEDED a second person was when i needed to set up the swing support beam and connect it to the tower part. I grabbed my neighbor and used him for about 10 minutes.

After tallying my hours i probably spent a total of 24 hours. Having said that, I was going at a comfortable casual pace, and I was alone. If you are more experienced in this stuff, i’m sure it’d go by much faster.

I’m really pleased with everything overall. Good price for what else is out there.

One final note. If you buy this set, you should by ground anchors at the same time because they aren’t included in the box. I didn’t know that until later, after the structure was pretty much done. Also I’d double your purchase of 2 1/2″ screws recommended in the instruction book.

I’m very happy with this set. Kids love it. You will too.

Here’s my breakdown of cost of the playset.

Play set Kit – 0 from Overstock.com

lumber – approx. 0 from Lowes

10 ft’ slide – 0 from Lowes

steering wheel accessory – from Lowes

baby swing – approx from Babies R Us.

Ground Anchors – approx from HomeDepot.com

Total – Just over 0 (right where they said it would be)

***UPDATE***

The instructions include an itemized list of size and quantity of lumber needed. It even showed diagram of how you should cut each piece to minimize waste. Good luck all!

This kit contained hardware and instructions for a playset. It did not include the wooden components but the material list and instructions were accurate. I have done a lot of wood working, but my son-in-law has not. We worked together on building this and it required the better part of two days. My grandson seems to really like it.
