I purchased this for my almost 2 year old son and he just loves it! It’s a great toy to use for teaching toddlers what different things are, and where they go (like the dog in the doghouse, the turkey in the oven, the car in the garage…you get the idea). You can also use it to teach colors since each door is a different color on the inside.

I gave this 3 stars for durability only because the little magnets that go behind each door are covered with a sticker that can peel and come off should your toddler chew on it or put it in their mouth (which I’m willing to bet many toddlers will do), but that’s a minor thing really.

Overall, I absolutely recommend this. It’s a very unique toy that I believe most children will enjoy playing with. I’ve yet to be disappointed by a Melissa & Doug product, and we own many!

I got this for my 19 month old before she was even a year old. She still plays with it ALMOST EVERY DAY. The pieces are magnetic so don’t fall out if the board is overturned. They are good sized pieces, it would not be easy for even a little one to choke on. In this puzzle, the pieces are matched by both object and color. My daughter now asks, “What is that?” when she lifts the door and is literally absorbed in it every time she plays with it, for up to a half hour. Highly recommend.

Little ones love opening and closing things, so this toy is perfect for toddlers. I actually bought it for my daughter’s 1st birthday, and I have a couple of friends who bought the exact one for their children’s 1st birthdays. All of the kids love it, and so do their older siblings (3 and 4 year olds). Very cute toy!

We purchased this toy to take on the airplane to a family wedding. It kept our 23-month-old daughter busy for hours! She absolutely loves it. She played with it on 4 airplanes and during the wedding ceremony. Great for travel because the magnetic pieces are less likely to get lost than traditional puzzle pieces. Toddler had so much fun opening and closing the doors and memorizing where the pieces go.

Melissa & Doug does it again with this great learning toy! My 14 month old granddaughter loves everything about this cute puzzle….and so do we. She giggles when opening the hinged doors to find what is inside and she’s already learning which magnetic piece goes behind what door. The pieces are easy to pick up even though a few fit snugly in their places and could have used a little more room. She also enjoys sticking the magnets on the refrigerator and then putting them back in the puzzle. Very well made.
