I bought this because of the good reviews. However, this is one of the few purchases that my experience is way different than the review.
1. For $45, my 3 year old played with it for 15 minutes then moved on to old toys. The blocks in the heavy huge and to me very unnecessary wooden box is just too few and too boring. There is not much you can create with the few pieces of blocks.
2. Way over priced. $45 for 15 minutes of fun? I love most baby toys. This is the one I really have no interest at first (second and third) glance.
3. A small incidence – One block my son knocked down fell on my toe. I was in severe pain for 10 seconds. Imagine it fell on your baby’s toe/finger.
If you don’t care paying $45 and you buy 10 sets of these, I can imagine this is totally fun. You can build a few projects with the piece. But definitely one box gives you not much to excite about.
BTW, I have to complement the quality of the wood. Very smooth, sturdy and beautiful

These appear to be great blocks but i have to say i am very disapointed with amazon.com. I found this SAME EXACT set by melissa and doug in my Local TJ max and more for (…)!!!! HMMM amazon (…)and free shipping or TJ max (…) As you do the math you can see your shipping is not free it is built in to the product cost. Shame on you Amazon!! I have also found that many times the items that are on Sale Cost more to ship. Just my observation. It is convient to have things shipped, but i really feel taken on this block set.
The block set itself is great as are all Melissa and doug products we have purchased. They are nice and big for clumsy little hands. Great product but save 20.00 and Check your TJ Max Stores!!

Well packaged. fast shipment. It would have been nice if it had been made of Maple (more durable than hardwoods used overseas where the product was made) No false advertizing here just a wish of higher quality

This set is smooth, attractive, and durable. They are the perfect size and 60 is an adequate number for building nice structures. The shapes are also varied enough to make building interesting. I highly recommend this set if you’re looking for a set to last throughout your kids’ childhood years.

I hardly write any reviews but this block set is simply too good. I bought one set for my boy when he turned 4. He has been creating all kinds of structures since then – from a few blocks on top of each other at first to a beautiful building with an elevator today!
I like the fact that these are just plain blocks because it enables expression without limitation. I only wish it comes with a few more shapes.
Any way, he is becoming 5 in a couple of months time. I will buy him another set then.
